File a Coach Complaint

Enforcement of the Coaches Code of Ethics Pledge

The National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA) firmly believes that for the sports’ experience to be positive, safe and a learning experience for youth, volunteer coaches must be trained and held accountable for their behavior when working with and around children. Every NYSCA member coach is required to sign and adhere to a Coaches’ Code of Ethics Pledge.

When there is a complaint lodged against an NYSCA member coach, the local NYSCA chapter director is asked to form an impartial review committee to listen to the complaint, listen to the coach, and render a decision relative to disciplinary action.

The NYSCA National Office accepts complaints in writing and will take the appropriate steps to help resolve the complaint.

It is not the position of the NYSCA to get involved in league disputes. The NYSCA can only take action against a member coach as it pertains to his/her compliance with the Code of Ethics in his/her capacity as a coach

If the Chapter Determines that Action is Necessary:
  1. The chapter will establish an impartial Review Committee of 3 to 5 people.
  2. The chapter will invite the coach to the meeting to address the complaint and to offer his/her side of the incident.
  3. The Review Committee has the complete authority to determine the severity of the situation and whether or not the affected coach as violated the Coaches’ Code of Ethics Pledge.
  4. Upon majority vote, the Review Committee has the authority to enforce the appropriate range of disciplinary actions including the decision to revoke or retain the coach’s membership with the NYSCA.
  5. If the Review Committee votes to revoke a coaches’ NYSCA membership, the NYSCA National Office will notify the coach of the revocation and their right to appeal to the National Executive Board.
