John Engh, chief operating officer of the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS), was recently featured on the Designer Health Net Show, a widely popular internet radio talk show.
The program, hosted by Kristé Bouvier, had Engh addressing many issues surrounding youth sports. He also detailed how NAYS’ programs and services are helping to enhance organized sports programs for kids around the country.
Engh shared his experience as a volunteer coach for his daughter’s soccer team and how he got through the season despite having no previous soccer coaching experience to speak of.
He also discussed how the membership and education programs of NAYS, like the National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA), are specifically designed to assist adults in similar situations by preparing them for their role as coaches and the many responsibilities that accompany that challenging position.
Engh also discussed several of NAYS’ other services and resources that are utilized to enhance the sports experience for children, including the National Standards for Youth Sports, the availability of the NYSCA training program online and the Start Smart Sports Development Programs.
