Getting Started

Implementing a Start Smart program is an easy step by step process. Our curriculum is designed to allow any individual or youth sports organization to offer Start Smart programming in their community. Should you need assistance along the way, our staff is available to guide you from start to finish.

1 Select Program

Choose which Start Smart program(s) you would like to offer in your community.

2 Order my Starter Kit

Purchase a Start Smart Starter Kit for each different program you are choosing to offer. The Starter Kit includes everything that you, the coordinator, will need to successfully implement your program. The Starter Kit includes your Coordinator Manual (includes A to Z curriculum), a Coordinator Shirt and the “Being A Model Youth Sport Parent” DVD, among other things. Please read through the Coordinator Manual to ensure you have a full understanding of the program.

3 Order my Participant Kits

Hold a registration day (or period) for your potential parent/child groups. Once your registration is closed, you will need to purchase a Participant Kit for each parent/child group (optional for the General Sports Development Program and Start Smart Golf). This Participant Kit is to be used by each parent/child group throughout the program and then kept at the end of the six sessions to ensure that each parent/child is going home with the proper equipment they need to further develop the skills learned.

4 RUN YOUR PROGRAM!

Please share the curriculum in the Coordinator Manual with any staff/volunteers that will be assisting you. Being on the same page with your staff will greatly help in the program running smoothly. Finally, don’t forget about the Program Guidelines from the Coordinator Manual. These will help you keep the goals of the program in proper perspective!
