38 recreation staff from Maryland complete Frontline Staff Training

Thirty-eight dedicated recreation staff members throughout Maryland completed the National Alliance for Youth Sports’ (NAYS) Frontline Staff Training during a special two-hour virtual event this week.

The training, provided through NAYS’ partnership with the Maryland Recreation & Parks Association (MRPA), prepares recreation staff at all levels to understand their essential role within the community and to strive to provide positive, safe and fun sports for all.

The NAYS Frontline Staff Training is designed for any recreation staff member (full-time, part-time, summer, seasonal, or new hire).

“Frontline Youth Sports Staff are in direct contact with the public and therefore are an extension of the organization’s leadership and the face of the organization,” said Lisa Licata, Senior Director of Professional Administrators for NAYS. “We were pleased to partner with MRPA to provide this unique learning experience to equip staff members at recreation departments throughout Maryland with some valuable information and resources to assist with their wide-ranging responsibilities.”

The training includes an introduction to youth sports administration, navigating interactions with youth sports parents and participants, promoting sportsmanship, being well-versed in a variety of safety issues, and being aware of what resources are available to help ensure high-quality sports experiences for all involved, among other areas.

Participants received a digital Certificate of Participation and access to a variety of resources and continuing education opportunities.

The Frontline Staff Training has received rave reviews around the country, including in Arizona, North Carolina, and Florida.
