This summer, the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) will unveil a completely revamped online experience. We have incorporated suggestions from the many youth sports organizations and individual coaches, parents, officials, and administrators who rely on NAYS, and are excited for you to see what is new. Here is a summary of some key changes to expect:
All login areas will be combined into one account. One username and password will be used to access all NAYS offerings.
All types of NAYS account holders will be able to affiliate with more than one organization at a time. If you coach with more than one league, there will be no need to transfer back and forth between two organizations.
Several new and updated courses will launch with the new website.
The existing requirements for NAYS Coach membership are to complete the Coaching Youth Sports Training and One Sport-Specific Training. Moving forward, the health and safety topics will be removed from Coaching Youth Sports and an all-new course, Basic Youth Sports Safety and First Aid Training, will be a new, third requirement for NAYS Coach members. The fee for membership will not change.
All trainings will be available ala carte and each organization will be able to set custom roles and requirements. For example, a Head Coach and a Team Parent could each have unique requirements in the NAYS system.
In 2019, NAYS began offering background checks for coaches who were also completing the NAYS Coach Training. Now, organizations can request and manage background checks through their NAYS account for anyone, not only coaches. Background checks are an optional, additional service.
A digital and printable included membership card will now be easier to find and share. Also, organization representatives will now have access to the digital membership cards for all members affiliated with their organization. A plastic membership card will be available for purchase for $5, postage included. Mailed cards will be received much faster. Most cards will be delivered within 3 to 5 business days.
Start Smart Sports Development Programs, Hook A Kid On Golf, and Ready, Set, Run! sites will be able to schedule program dates and track order history in their online NAYS account.
The Academy for Youth Sports Administrators will be accessible from nays.org. There will be an enhanced experience for CYSAs. It will be easier to submit continuing education hours, especially if earned through a NAYS training. Also, the Forum and CYSA Share areas will be more robust and engaging. CYSAs who are involved with other NAYS programs will access all their tools and resources from one account.
Stay tuned to NAYS newsletters and social media for announcements regarding the official launch later this summer. When the website debuts, NAYS team members will be available to give demonstrations by webinar and one-on-one meetings. We welcome your feedback. Please contact us at nays@nays.org with your questions.
