Coaching Boys Lacrosse Training

The NYSCA Coaching Boys Lacrosse section is one of the most comprehensive resources for volunteer coaches involved in boys lacrosse programs.

During the sport-specific portion of the NYSCA training program lacrosse coaches view the Coaching Boys Lacrosse training video, which focuses on how to go about teaching many of the key fundamentals of the game to youngsters. The video is designed to help you, regardless if you are new to the sport or have coached for many years, enhance both your knowledge and teaching skills so you are better prepared to help guide every player on your team to a safe, fun and rewarding experience.

To enrich your learning experience, the NYSCA Coaching Boys Lacrosse section includes the use of video instruction for demonstrations. These live-action segments are unique to our program, and they provide you with the most effective and exciting way to learn. Topics covered in this video include:

Jim Stagnitta - The head coach of the men's lacrosse team at Rutgers University. As one of the winningest active coaches in the country, Stagnitta has re-established Rutgers as one of the nation's most respected lacrosse programs during his tenure. As a player he was a three-year letter winner and starting defenseman for the University of Pennsylvania, where he led the Quakers to two Ivy League championships, including the school's first-ever league title in 1983.

At the conclusion of the Coaching Boys Lacrosse video there is a 10-question exam featuring both True and False and multiple choice questions. Each question must be answered correctly to complete the training and obtain your membership. The questions are explained in full detail within the video and text provided and after submitting your answers you'll have an opportunity to redo any incorrect responses.

Unlike other coaching courses where you are required to write your own notes and draw your own diagrams, NYSCA has done all the work for you! The manual that accompanies our online clinic is a valuable resource for coaches at any level.

The manual is printable in PDF format for enhanced graphics.
